We List You A Merry Christmas. . . and A Happy Chanukah, New Year, Winter Solstice, Festivus, etc.

Now that we’re really into the nitty gritty of the gift-giving season, I’m introducing a new feature on Present Professor: Gift Lists. The lists will be fast and furious–click on each link if you want to know more about the items presented. Over the coming days and next few weeks, you’ll find lists dedicated to gifts for tweens, children of the eighties, dedicated bakers, sports fans, and more. If there’s anything you’d like to see, please suggest a gift list! (I’ll also continue to write longer pieces on individual gifts.)

In honor of this new feature, and in honor of it being Monday, we’re having a GIVEAWAY! The giveaway is an item that I haven’t featured on any of my lists–in fact, it’s hard to find anywhere. This week’s giveaway? Two Bakugan Starter Packs. (You can read my review of Bakugan here. You can read more and watch a video here.)

To enter, browse our new Gift Lists. Then leave a comment on this post saying which item you’d most like to give or receive this holiday season.

But wait, there’s more! I just know there are folks out there in Cyberland who need gift-giving advice. And here I am, a Professor of Giftology, a goofy title I egotistically bestowed on myself, twiddling my thumbs. So this week, if you ask the Present Professor to help you find a gift for your aunt or son or imaginary friend or secret pain or your brother, you’ll get an extra entry into our giveaway. And if I answer your question, you’ll get a third entry–so make ‘em good!

Giveaway open to U.S. residents only.

  1. Greetings, What a fantastic giveaway prize drawing. The gift I like the best thus far is the “Philsophy’s Warm by the Fire Gift Set!” My husband, brother-in-law and my niece’s husband would all enjoy receiving this gift!
    Thanks for the tip. Cindi

  2. I LOVED the I’m Blogging This tee shirt. That would suit me so well. Unfortunately, I generally am the the giver, rather than the givee.

As for the Bakugans…it is the ONLY thing my son wants for Christmas and the stores are completely sold out. Really hope that #2 is the lucky number in this drawing. Thanks for at least the chance to get these for him.

you have a fun site and I just subscribed.

  3. I would like to get the Bakin Time glove for Christmas. I would also like to give one to my mom. Thanks for the giveaway!

  4. I think the Smoke Signals is hilarious! I would like to give that to my father in law.

  5. Give: Nerf Gun for my 10yo. He has an entire plan for battling his buddies in an all out Nerf War.

  6. Chumps Mini Series Art Toys!!

  7. i’d love to give the Bacon Soap to my brother-in-law!

  8. I would love to give my son the Air Hogs Zero G car. thank you

  9. love the nerf gun for my son!!

  10. I’ve already gotten my son the Air Hogs gravity defying car…I know he’s going to be thrilled!

  11. Whoo hoo! I need those Nick and Nora footed pajamas from Target for moi. I mean for someone else.

  12. [...] Both packs will be awarded to 1 winner. December 1, 2008 · Filed Under Kids  Where: Present ProfessorWhat: Two of the much-coveted Bakugan Battle Brawlers starter packs. Both packs will be awarded to 1 [...]

  13. Off the beaten path for me. I really like the Santa Dreidel.

  14. I liked the 80’s candy box. I remember sneaking these candies and eating them on the bus (where no food was allowed).

  15. Would love to get the Spy Wire game for my 8 year old brothers!

  16. I would love to get the nick and nora footie psj!!

  17. I’d love to give my tween son the nerf darts guns – although I’m afraid he might drive his big sister to fratricide if he had them. The Bakugan is a preferred option – the poor kid claims everyday that he is the ONLY kid in school who doesn’t have one!

  18. Thanks for a great giveaway! I would love to give the Kitchen Pals Silicone Oven Mitts–I like to give unique but useful gifts, and these are so fun! Thanks!

  19. Any of the soap items were good finds. I have lots of grandma’s and great-aunt’s on my husband’s side that are really hard to buy for.

In fact, here’s a question for a second entry: What to get for my husband’s GREAT-grandmother (85 years old) who is housebound, doesn’t read, used to cook but is unable to stand at the stove anymore, isn’t fully aware of current trends but still is able to carry on a conversation, that doesn’t cost more than $35? HA. Have fun with that one. It’s our problem every year. Add to it that she lives in a 1 bedroom apartment and doesn’t collect ANYthing…

Bakugan is on both of my boys’ lists this year. It’d be great to not have to buy it myself!

  20. I’m a total kitchen nerd (yes, there is such a thing) and am digging the Kitchen Pals oven mits. I think a hippo in my kitchen would be hilarious.

My 8yo boy is obsessed with Bakugan. Where did these things come from? All of a sudden last summer it was all he’d talk about! At least with Pokemon there was branding involved (tv shows, games, books, etc). I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a bakugan show!

  21. My boys would love the Hasbro Nerf Dart Tag Strikefire 2-Pack Blaster.

    Thanks!

  22. I’d love to receive the Nordicware mini loaf pans. Thanks for the great giveaways!

  23. My boys would love this marble thingy — it’s all they’ve been talking about. I personally would choose the The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2008.

To earn another couple of entries, here is my challenge to you: What do you get a 79 yr old Jewish mother-in-law who opens her gift and says: “Oh, thank you. I hope you saved the receipt, because I can’t imagine that I would ever use this.”? I’ll send the question to you via email, as well.

  24. I’d be thrilled to receive the Amaretto Honey Oatmeal Creme Fraiche whipped soap. My goodness, that sounds good enough to eat! If I had the Nordicware Mini Holiday Loaf Pan, that would perk up our gifts to others – we do a lot of homemade goodies for the holidays. My son would be over the moon to get the Bakugan sets – that’s one of the few things he’s mentioned repeatedly as something he’d be interested in.

  25. The Ameretto Honey Oatmeal Creme Fraîche whipped soap. $11 at Savor.

  26. We are a true OLD SCHOOL SESAME STREET FAMILY!!! What can I say? How can you not be in love with all these adorable characters? That’s why I know that the Sesame Street Old School, Volume 2 would be perfect for us! : )))

Thanks so much for this fabulous give~away! : )))

  27. I’d like to be able to give the gift from Oxfam. We hardly have enough money to buy single gifts for the kids this year. It would be nice to give something to the world.

  28. I would like to give an ipod shuffle listed in the gifts for college kids.

Thanks for a chance to win an awesome toy.

  29. My 33-year-old brother and I are always discussing the differences between the Sesame Street that our kids watch today versus what we used to see so the Sesame Street Old School, Volume 2 would be a hilarious gift to give him. Thanks!

  30. I would love to get a Sigg water bottle. I plan on getting some for my kids. They are going to be stocking stuffers.
