Sometimes you never know you need something that you didn’t realize ever existed until you figure out it was what you wanted all along. . . kind of like these lip balm key rings from Etsy artist lavenderlizard. Keep your lip balm snug as a bug and handily clipped to your key ring, significantly reducing the number of Chapsticks you’ll lose in the dark abyss that is your purse. The perfect size for stockings or to affix to a holiday card. Fill it with applesauce to make it a more complete gift. Wait, no. That’s not right. Fill it with LIP BALM to make it a more complete gift. Fill it with applesauce to make it bizarre and useless gift.

My wallet is like that really overused line from Forrest Gump: You never know what you’re gonna get. It’s small and has no individual card holders, so I can reach in for, say, my Visa card and pull out my driver’s license. Or I can reach for my ATM card and pull out my Bamberger’s card. And that’s a little weird, because Bamberger’s hasn’t EXISTED since 1986.
My wallet could learn a lot from the pocket wallets available at Mercys Mark’s ETSY shop.

Not really ugly
Ugly dolls are cute, cuddly
Irony, get it?
Each Ugly doll comes with a short backstory and enough charisma to charm the pants off of children, hipsters, Seniors, and perhaps even the most cynical of creatures: the teenager.

What can you find on Etsy? A community of artists who, as a whole, care about their customers and their products. I’ll be writing regular posts about my ETSY finds, both because of the unique selection of gifts available through the site, and because I think it’s important to support individual artists.
To start, I’d like to recommend Savor. Savor is the creation of Lisa, a computer tech and soapstress in Northern Cal who’s managed to fuse her love of cooking and her mastery of glycerin to create some really fabulous soap products.

When I’m writing with a standard ball-point pen, there’s nothing. No chemistry. No zing. Sure, it’s functional, but where’s the personality?
Enter, the Kooky Klickers. (Mine is named Myron.) He smiles. He’s got Koosh-esque hair. He’s a klicky pen. And each style is a limited-time release, making them kollectible. (Yeah, I’m really sticking with the whole “k” thing.)
